Adolescent Life Skills
This program is for adolescents from the ages of 15 through 19 who are experiencing difficulties in regulating their emotions and behaviors and managing stress effectively. It also helps the adolescent to become more aware and competent in balancing identifying their needs in relationship in an effective manner, with listening to others and considering their point of view.
Adolescent Life Skills is also based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy which was developed by Marsha Linehan and thus incorporates the principles of DBT, individual therapy, skills acquisition, skills coaching, consultation by the team to parents and outside providers, including school counselors and therapists.
Sessions focus on learning, practicing, and generalizing skills very similar to the skills learned in Life Skills I. In addition, parents are involved in their adolescent's care through parent sessions that are held monthly. Parent sessions highlight skills learned and encourage supportive parenting practices.
